Playbook
·6 min readThe load-shedding playbook every SA campus should keep on file.
Stage 4 is the new baseline. Any SA campus planning its academic calendar around uninterrupted power is planning to lose teaching hours. The playbook is not about generators — it is about what the portal does the moment the grid drops.
Three defaults matter: attendance that records locally and syncs on return; announcements that pre-schedule so they still fire during cellphone-only windows; and material organised by week so students can pull what they need before the next outage.
The campuses that cope are the ones that treat power loss as ordinary — not as an incident. Design for the bad day, and the good days look after themselves.
