Product · Announcements

Pinned at the top of every student's portal. Delivered even during outages.

Announcements that actually land — not one more WhatsApp group blue-tick. Lecturers post once; the portal makes sure the right cohort sees it the next time they open their phone.

How it works

Announcements that arrive, read, and are logged.

One post, the right cohort

A lecturer tags an announcement with subject + cohort. It lands at the top of each student's subject page, in their reminders feed, and optionally via WhatsApp — no copy-pasting across five groups.

Pre-scheduled for load-shedding

Announcements can be scheduled. During a stage-4 outage, the portal fires the message the moment a student's device reconnects — not lost in the dark.

Read-receipt you can actually read

Every announcement shows which students have opened it. 'Midterm moved to Friday' with 312/318 opens is proof you sent it. The six outstanding get a targeted nudge.

Campus-wide or HoD-level

Principal-level broadcasts sit above lecturer announcements with a distinct style. No confusion about what came from whom — especially at audit.

The test of an announcement is not whether it was sent. It is whether it was read before the class it was about.
FAQ

Questions we hear at demos

Can we send via WhatsApp as a fallback?
Yes — announcement authors can opt in to a WhatsApp nudge per post. The message contains the announcement text and a link back to the portal for any attachments. Student opt-in is captured at enrolment.
What about students without internet?
Announcements queue locally on their device. Next time the portal opens on any connection (campus Wi-Fi, mobile data), they sync and display in chronological order.
Can we edit a sent announcement?
Yes — with a visible 'edited at 14:12' marker. The audit log retains both versions. Deletions are soft — recoverable and logged for POPIA compliance.
